The Giant Ice Age Mammals the Roamed Throughout the Greater Kansas City Area and Beyond, April 4 – June 24, 2022, Open: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm. The Box Gallery, 1000 Walnut, inside the Commerce Bank Building. Free and open to the pubic.
During the Ice Age, giant mammals dominated the landscape of what is now Kansas City. Most became extinct about 10,000 years ago, and only some are represented today by descendants of diminutive size. This exhibit compares skeletal remains of the Ice Age giants with their modern day relatives. Visitors will learn about the giant ground sloth, woolly mammoth, mastodon, giant beaver and the saber-toothed cat — Ice Age giants of our KC area. The exhibit was created by Dr. Richard J. Gentile, Professor Emeritus, UMKC.
A lunch-time Opening Reception will be held Thursday, April 14th, 11:30-1:00pm. It is free and open to the public. Free parking validation for the Commerce Bank Building garage at 1025 Main is available at security desk.
The Box Gallery is always free and open to the public.

Free parking validation is available for all visitors to The Box Gallery. Please park in the Commerce Bank Building Parking Garage at 1025 Main Street. Once parked, enter the main building on the 2nd floor. Bring your parking ticket in and request a validation sticker at the Security office window located at the west end of the Arcade.
