Dan Jian is a visual artist who works across painting, drawing, and animation. Originally from the mountain region of Hubei, China, Dan Jian came to the United States at the age of nineteen. She received her BFA from Tyler School of Art and Architecture at Temple University and MFA from The Ohio State University in 2016 with a minor in Comparative Study. Dan is an assistant professor of Art at Texas Christian University and maintains an ongoing studio practice in Fort Worth, Texas. Dan's work has been exhibited nationally across the US and internationally in China, Italy, and Korea. Her forthcoming solo shows will appear soon at Kansas City Art Coalition in Kansas City, Women & Their Work in Austin, and Cris Worley Gallery in Dallas. In addition to many awards, grants, and endorsements, Dan is also a residency alumnus of Ragdale Foundation, Vermont Studio Center, Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts, and Finalist for the Don Bachardy Fellowship in London, UK. In 2022, Dan is one of the four Community Artists selected by the Amon Carter Museum of American Art, Fort Worth.
