Chris will discuss one of his favorite albums, “Organ Grinder Swing” by Jimmy Smith.
The first time Chris experienced a real Hammond B-3 organ, he knew instantly that it was the instrument he was destined to play. From 2007-2009, Chris called NYC his home, playing in Harlem jazz clubs. He also studied with Everette DeVan and Dr. Lonnie Smith. Upon returning to Kansas City he formed his own trio and in 2012 recorded their album "Peregrination".
In 2013, his flagship ensemble, Chris Hazelton's Boogaloo 7 was assembled and can be heard at The Green Lady Lounge on Friday nights.
