NAVO will present a free classical music performance on Saturday September 9, 2017 at 7:30pm at the Atonement Lutheran Church.
Join us for our opening concert of the 2017-18 season: The powerful lyricism of Richard Strauss! NAVO will present a performance at the Atonement Lutheran Church. Featured artists will include soprano Liz Pearse, violinist Véronique Mathieu, and pianist Lolita Lisovskaya-Sayevich among others. In addition, NAVO is proud to introduce a promising young artist, saxophonist Justin Brown, a winner of the Topeka Symphony Concerto Competition, and a senior at Blue Valley HS. Musicologist Paul Laird will introduce the repertoire in a pre-concert talk.
An exceptional group of international artists will share the stage for this concert: soprano Liz Pearse (USA); pianist Lolita Lisovskaya-Sayevich (Uzbekistan/Russia); violinist Véronique Mathieu (Canada); bassoonist Kim Krutz (USA); clarinetist Trevor Stewart (USA); hornist Becca Lundstrum (USA); bassist Ken Mitchell (USA). In addition, NAVO is proud to introduce a promising young artist, saxophonist Justin Brown, a winner of the Topeka Symphony Concerto Competition, and a senior at Blue Valley HS. Justin will perform Strauss’ Romance in E-flat major arranged for saxophone and piano. The powerful lyricism of German composer Richard Strauss will take you on an unforgettable journey. The program includes the violin sonata op. 18, the chamber version of the symphonic poem Till Eulenspiegel, and a selection of lieder.
