The William Baker Festival Singers open its 25th Anniversary Concert Season at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 1307 Holmes St KCMO on November 6 at 3:00 PM
The award-winning William Baker Festival Singers, a 50-voice semi-professional chorale specializing in short-form classics, spirituals and world music, opens its 25th Anniversary Season with a festive concert featuring the music of Composer-in-Residence Dr. Sean Sweeden, Felix Mendelssohn, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Egil Hovland, and F. Melius Christiansen, in addition to the choir's signature American spirituals and gospel songs.
The Festival Singers is the 2nd place winner of both the 2021 American Prize in Choral Performance and the 2021 Ernst Bacon Award for Service to American Music. Recordings of the choir have been lauded in The American Record Guide and other national publications. The Festival Singers is Chorus in Residence at the historic St. Mary's Episcopal Church in KCMO. Joining the Festival Singers in this festive concert will be Allegro Con Spirito, the young men's choir of the Allegro Choirs of Kansas City, under the direction of Alex Piazza. A Wine and Cookie Reception will follow the concert, presented by the Board of Trustees of the Choral Foundation.
