As part of "Every Street Is Charlotte Street," Kate Hackman has come back to Kansas City to guest curate Pattern Languages, a special exhibition at Greenlease Gallery showcasing some of best works from select Charlotte Street fellows. The Greenlease Gallery at Rockhurst University will host an opening reception on Friday, Sept. 8 at 6:30 PM.
Opening remarks by Kate and selected artists will begin the event with a reception to follow. "The unifying theme among the works is the use of pattern as a strategy for communicating ideas and making meanings: pattern as content. In some works, the artists employ patterns to convey personal narratives, cultural histories, and/or social or political concerns. Others generate their own patterns through the recurrent use of specific materials, gestures, forms or formats, emphasizing similarities or variations amid repetition and across time."
The exhibition is free and open to the public.
