Hands-on Workshop: Quilted Hexagon Tiles | April 15, 10:00 a.m. – noon | This is a ticketed mixed-media workshop using elements of collage and hexagon wooden tiles. All materials are provided and open to all ages 6 and up and all artistic abilities.
This workshop taught by Zdenka Guadarrama, Ph.D., Rockhurst University professor of mathematics, uses playful learning to guide you in the creation of a gorgeous hexagonal tile using a variety of materials. Following the rules of our tiling game, you will connect your tile with others to be part of a large community installation. You do not have to be an artist or a math genius to participate!
All materials provided. Tiles will be displayed in a temporary Greenlease Gallery exhibition in May, and participants will be listed as one of the contributing artists and invited to the opening reception Friday, May 5. Participants can pick up their tiles after the close of the exhibition and can choose to opt out from exhibiting their tile.
Space is limited and is open to ages 6 and older.
Registration $15 (for two tiles, an adult may bring a child as part of this fee). You must register in advance.
