Only the Wounds and Weapons Have Changed

Presented by Westport Center for the Arts at Just Off Broadway Theatre

A veteran interracial playwright team, Jacqueline Gafford and Scott Myers, have written this "Whole Truth" Black History play. Features significant, often lesser known characters in scenes/situation/dialogues that either did happen or could have happened, e.g. LGBTQ pioneers/friends/fellow artists James Baldwin and Beauford Delaney, Fannie Lou Hamer and Ida B Wells. William Monroe Trotter, Marian Anderson and Hazel Scott, Rev Fred Shuttlesworth, Bull Connor and pioneering KC journalist Lucille Bluford. LGBTQ pioneer Bayard Rustin and pioneering Black KCPD detective, Leon Jordan, Eleanor Roosevelt, Robert F. Kennedy, brothers/composers of "Lift Every Voice and Sing", James Weldon Johnson and J. Rosamond Johnson. This is a significant work of historical fiction in Theatre. Supported by the Missouri Arts Council, ArtsKC and the Rocket Grant from the Andy Warhol/Charlotte Street Foundation, Francis Family Foundation.
