The William Baker Festival Singers celebrate the opening of their 20th concert season and the release of their newest recording, “My Song is Love Unknown.”
The William Baker Festival Singers open their 20th anniversary season with a concert celebrating diversity. The 90-minute program includes SET ME AS A SEAL by Composer-in-Residence Ed Frazier Davis, and KYRIELEIS by Kansas City composer John Leavitt, along with favorite modern works by Samuel Barber, Norman Dello Joio, Morton Lauridsen and Kim Arnesen. The program culminates in the American folk hymns and African-American spirituals and gospel songs for which the 50-voice semi-professional is known across the region.
In recognition of the Festival Singers 20 season in Kansas City, several area choral ensembles are joining the celebration throughout the 2017-2018 season. The Songflower Chorale, under the direction of composer-director Geoff Wilcken, will join in the performance.
