Olathe Public Library Foundation’s “A Taste of Literacy”

Olathe Public Library Foundation’s “A Taste of Literacy”

Presented by Olathe Public Library at Embassy Suites Hotel

Special guest speaker Scott Ellsworth will talk about his book, The Secret Game: A Wartime Story of Courage, Change, and Basketball’s Lost Triumph. The Secret Game tells the story of James Naismith’s last protégé at the University of Kansas, Coach John McLendon, and the 1944 game-changing illegal basketball competition between the North Carolina College for Negroes and the all-white military team from the Duke Medical School.

This year’s dinner is dedicated in memory of Foundation Co-founder Clifford Tatham, whose contributions will be honored with a mayoral proclamation.

Dinner includes roasted beef tenderloin and Scottish Salmon. A cash bar is available. Business casual attire is suggested.
