NAVO Season opener: Bridging Cultures – from Germany to America

Presented by NAVO at Atonement Lutheran Church

The season opener on October 7, titled ‘Bridging Cultures – from Germany to America’, promises a night filled with the enchanting romantic melodies of Schumann’s Piano Quintet and the evocative sound world of Reena Esmail’s Saans for piano trio. Ingrid Stölzel – NAVO’s composer in residence – will also present her new string trio: Fides, Spes. The program will be performed by violinists Destiny Mermagen and Véronique Mathieu, violist Shah Sadikov, cellist Michael Mermagen, and pianist Lolita Lisovskaya-Sayevich.

It is with great anticipation that we welcome back pianist Eddison Chen, a rising star who recently dazzled audiences as a quarter finalist at the prestigious 2023 Van Cliburn Junior competition. Eddison, currently an 8th grader at Oxford Middle School in Overland Park, KS, has consistently garnered top prizes in major competitions and was selected as one of 16 competitors in the 2023 Cleveland International Piano Competition for Young Artists. Experience Eddison’s beautiful performance on October 7.
