Decadence & Decay - Works by local artist Deana Winter

Decadence & Decay - Works by local artist Deana Winter

Presented by ArtsKC – Regional Arts Council at The ArtsKC Gallery

About the Artist: In 2002, Deana Winter received her BFA in Fiber from KCAI. She has been involved in the ArtsKC Now Showing program since 2006 and shown at over 16 local business partners, most recently for the Grand Opening of Shawnee Mission Health's newest campus in Overland Park, KS.

Her experience lies in textiles, ceramics, wood-working, interior/exterior design, architecture photography and post-production audio. In 2015, Deana opened her own remodeling and design company, Snow Modern, LLC. concentrating on residential homes. She uses her creative eye and sense of detail to craft beautiful and unique domestic spaces.

In her studio practice, Deana is drawn to the human element of forgotten objects, their journey and sense of time. Her work builds on layers of rust, copper, oxidation and color, transforming  them into graceful modern narratives. Exploring atmosphere, ambiance and the dichotomy of decadence & decay, grit & glamour and where those subtle worlds of aura and energy collide every day.
