Make a Wish for the Birds and Fish

Make a Wish for the Birds and Fish

Presented by Imagine That! Kansas City at Imagine That! Kansas City

On October's First Friday, we will be celebrating the beauty of nature at Imagine That! with illustrations, paintings, prints, and more. Many of our artists are drawn to natural landscapes and organic shapes like watercolor representations of the Badlands and playful pen drawings of seaweed. In this show, see the many ways our artists interpret landscape, animals and plant life. Come join us October 6th for all of the “botanical sweets”.  Imagine That!, a non-profit arts program founded in 2012 for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

In addition, we’ll be featuring work from local fiber  artist Meghan Roswell. She states that the diversity and complexity of plant adaptations compels her to develop other worldly botanicals using found materials. She creates organic sculptures out of textiles and arranges them into installations inspired by ikebana, the art of Japanese flower arranging. One of the philosophies behind ikebana is that flowers are killed when they are cut and artful arranging brings them back to life. Using organic shapes, thoughtful assembling, and playful use of materials, she gives life to her sculptures.

Imagine That! Is a program offered by Resources for Human Development a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We aim to provide individuals with the supports and tools to define themselves as artists, help them achieve recognition for their vision, and to develop a sense of confidence and self-worth through the art making process. Our artists have shown work regionally, nationally, and internationally.
