Windscapes - an evening of chamber music with NAVO!

Presented by NAVO at Atonement Lutheran Church

Windscapes is a program that will offer a new take on the traditional chamber music genres!

After years in the heartland of Kansas, pianist Robert Koenig relocated to the sunny shores of California. As Professor and Head of Collaborative piano at UC Santa Barbara and the Artistic Director of the Palm Springs International Piano Competition, Koenig brings a wealth of experience and virtuosity to the stage.

NAVO’s Karen Benda and Eric Stomberg recently started full time appointments at the prestigious Interlochen Center for the Arts and we are thrilled to embark on this innovative chamber music journey with them! Violinists Véronique Mathieu, Destiny Mermagen, violist Shah Sadikov and cellist Michael Mermagen will join forces to create a memorable experience.

The program will open with ‘Dark Wood’ by Jennifer Higdon – an exploration of the virtuosic capabilities of the bassoon. Higdon’s composition sets the stage with rich textures and intricate melodies. Astor Piazzolla’s iconic tango Oblivion will be performed alongside evocative compositions by Hannah Kendall and Miguel del Aguila. Born in Uruguay, del Aguila is known for his unique blend of classical, folk, and popular music elements. The clarinet takes center stage in Sheridan Seyfried’s piano sextet which will conclude the concert in rousing fashion!
