Our monthly acoustic jam session goes Latinx with Bolivian-born Amado Espinoza, of the local band, Ayllu, and his wife Karen Lisondra, a Kansas native,
To celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, we've invited Amado Espinoza (from Bolivia) and his wife Karen Lisondra, a Kansas native, to join our monthly acoustic jam. Amado, who has appeared at TedxKC and the Folk Alliance International Conference, is a 2017 Charlotte Street Foundation Performing Arts Fellow.
He specializes in the charango (a ten-stringed South American guitar). A composer and artisan of native instruments, he has been collaborating with Karen since 2011. Karen spent thirteen years in South America as a theatre artist. Currently they are co-directing the Storytelling Project for UMKC theatre (debuting in Feb. 2018). As always, bring your instruments, bring your voices, or just come and enjoy the music.
