25th Season Celebration

25th Season Celebration

Presented by newEar Contemporary Chamber Ensemble at Central United Methodist Church

This concert features local composers and former commissions. Jennifer Higdon, Barr Institute Laureate composer at UMKC will be featured, as well as Kansas composers Tonio Ko and Ingrid Stölzel, and former newEar composer-in-residence (1998-2001) James Mobberley. We will also pay tribute to former newEar special guest (1997) and famed composer Pauline Oliveros, who passed away in 2016.

In lieu of a traditional pre-concert lecture, notes about the selections will be given by board member J.J. Pearse during set changes.

Program:
James Mobberley - Hint of Mischief (1999) for flute, clarinet/bass clarinet, violin, cello, piano, alto saxophone, and percussion (8 minutes)

Ingrid Stölzel- The Road Is All (2007) for violin, cello, and piano (12 minutes) - Former newEar commission 2007

Pauline Oliveros - Earth Ears: A Sonic Ritual (1989) (indeterminate)
