  • Camp Shakespeare VIRTUAL Shakespeare Summer Camp
    Summer Camps
    Our signature education program, Camp Shakespeare is open to youth ages 8 – 11, giving students a two-week interactive curriculum. This includes Shakespearean history, visual art, performance, and acting techniques. During the final class, students will have the opportunity to share their work VIRTUALLY with family and friends.
  • Children's Clay and Drawing Classes
    After School
    WINTER/SPRING ART FOR CHILDREN JANUARY,FEBRUARY,MARCH APRIL, MAY   CLASS SIZES ARE LIMITED MONTHLY CLAY CLASSES- Ages 7- 16 Students will learn a variety of methods for creating with clay as well as glazing. Each class offers a different project to go with the season. All materials provided INSTRUCTOR: Ruth Bukovac         Dates: Sundays – Jan. 13, Feb.17, March 24, April 14 Time: 2:00-3:00 pm Cost: $25. Per class per artist or 4 classes $90. (per artist) WEEKLY DRAWING LESSONS- Ages: 7-15 Students will learn how to draw and shade still life, animals and portraits. Students will explore the mediums of charcoal, pencil, oil pastel, ink and chalk.                                        All materials provided INSTRUCTOR: Ruth Bukovac       ON GOING Dates: Sundays Time: 3:30-4:30 or 4:30-5:30pm Cost: $80.00 for 4 sessions One hour per session COPPER RELIEF Sculpture-   Ages 7-16 Students will learn how to manipulate copper foil to create a raised design. Students will then use their foil design to cover a wooden plaque or box. INSTRUCTOR: Ruth Bukovac            All materials provided Dates: -May 5th Sunday or schedule desired day & time Time: 2:00-3:00 Cost: $25 per artist The Olathe Visual Artists Association is a non-profit group dedicated to promoting art in the community. Ruth Bukovac, (a certified Art Teacher) will teach all the classes. Ruth has been teaching art for more than 40 years and is a retired art teacher from the Olathe Public Schools. The enrollment fee covers all the materials, equipment and expenses.    
  • Latino Arts Foundation Art Mentorship Program Spring Session
    Group Lessons;  Professional Development;  Student Showcase Opportunities
    Latino Arts Foundation Art Mentorship Spring Session is for all ages 8 and up.  Mentors are available in the visual art, playwright, creative writing, songwriting, poetry, videography, photography and social media.  Bring any art work or writing pieces if you have them and/or musical instruments.  If you do not, that is ok!  Come prepared to talk to your mentor about your passion and interest in the arts. **Free Street Parking only.  Unable to validate parking garage tickets at this time.

    Students in our Music Camps will explore melody and rhythm while they learn new and old songs alike. Each week of camp will vary, depending upon the teaching artist. Lateesha’s background is in classical music, Chris is an amazing singer-songwriter and has an affinity for folk music, and Jaisson is a percussionist and will feature lots of drumming in his camps. Dance, Theatre, and Visual Arts camps are also available. Scholarships are available for students with financial need. Learn more at KCYA.org

  • Shakespeare Exploration VIRTUAL Summer Camp
    Summer Camps
    Shakespeare Exploration is a conservatory-styled camp that provides an advanced experience for returning and new teen campers. Students will experience in-depth acting work highlighting vocal, physical, and acting techniques used in performing Shakespeare. Campers will focus on acting exercises, text analysis, and rehearsal of monologues and performance material for their VIRTUAL sharing for family and friends upon the completion of camp.
  • Shakespeare Unlimited VIRTUAL Shakespeare Summer Camp
    Summer Camps
    Shakespeare Unlimited is specially designed for middle school students, giving them a deeper study of Shakespeare and a more complex look at scene study, character development, and theatre crafts. Two sessions are offered June 15 – 26, 2020 and June 29 – July 10, 2020. Shakespeare Unlimited students will work with Shakespearean text to create a VIRTUAL sharing for family and friends upon the completion of camp.
  • Spring Break Camp - Mesner Puppets
    After School
    Spend the week with us making a Stop Motion Lego Movie! Kids will create a story, make their puppets and film a video during the week.

  • Will's Players VIRTUAL Summer Camp
    Summer Camps
    This camp is a one-week, half-day camp designed for our youngest Shakespeareans (and parents too!). It’s perfect for kids who are brand new to the Bard. Will’s Players will explore the life and times of Shakespeare and the basics of theatre, along with fun crafts, games, and activities. We encourage parents to participate in the class for fun, interactive play with their young Shakespearean! During the final class, students will have the opportunity to share their work VIRTUALLY with family and friends.
