Are you a fashion entrepreneur looking to outsource production? Do you have an idea for a garment but are unsure how to take it from concept to consumer? Join us for a virtual informative session that will arm you with industry-standard tools and knowledge to successfully engage a production factory to create your garments. We will walk through the design and production process for Rightfully Sewn’s Little Black Dress as a learning tool. This class is important for fashion entrepreneurs looking to scale their business by handing off production while ensuring consistent sizing and quality across their fashion line. Students will: Learn how to compile a comprehensive tech pack that includes order of operations, seam finishes, seam allowances, hem widths, cut lists, and more; Develop a size chart for a fashion brand; Receive instruction on how to develop a master sloper, grade a garment, and prepare production patterns; Learn industry production terminology and resources to source fabric and notions; Develop a cost sheet for a garment; Understand how to properly project fabric yardage for production; Learn about Rightfully Sewn’s small batch production services; and Leave with a suite of materials and tools to confidently walk into any production house. This class will be taught by the Rightfully Sewn Production Team: Sarah Watts, Production and Operations Manager and Sandra Romero, Head Seamstress. Sarah Watts has a degree in fashion design and merchandising from New Mexico State University and has more than seven years of industry and teaching experience. Sandra is a seasoned seamstress with 25 years experience and specialty knowledge in sports apparel and sublimation manufacturing. Beyond work on the production floor, Sandra helped launch Siege Sports, a brand which designs and produces professional and collegiate athletic team uniforms and apparel.
