Choreographer Call

City in Motion Dance Theater is honored to present our 18th annual presentation of “Modern Night" at the Gem on Saturday, February 5, 2022. This concert builds upon City in Motion’s mission; to foster the development of high-quality, contemporary dance programming in our metropolitan area. Since 1985, City in Motion has provided opportunities for local choreographers to present their works through its Choreographers’ Showcases and New Dance Series programs. “A Modern Night at the Folly” is a continuation of that tradition.

This year this performance will take place at the Historic Gem Theater in the Jazz District at 18th and Vine KCMO. This performance will be fully produced by City in Motion with production direction by Wil Hopes-Pflumm. City in Motion Dance Theater will provide all theater rental, crew, and marketing expenses. In addition, each choreographer will receive a $100 honorarium to use as they wish.

It is City in Motion’s goal to facilitate growth in our dance community by continually striving to raise the level of excellence in our productions. Decidedly so, all applicants will be reviewed by an independent adjudicator, Production Director and Artistic Co-Directors.
