Harold Smith is a Kansas City based visual artist whose internationally exhibited and collected work includes painting, collage, mixed media, performance, video, sound, and assemblage.

His work focuses on the complexity of black masculinity in America by exploring and expressing the simultaneously complementary and contradictory internal and external narratives that black men in America must navigate in order to survive and flourish. Smith is a regular contributor to KC Studio magazine.

Smith is a recipient of the 2022 Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant, 2022 Charlotte Street Visual Artists Award, 2022 MacDowell Residency, New Hampshire, 2022-2025 Studios Inc Residency, Kansas City.
