December Exhibition Series

MALLIN GALLERY – ABHIDNYA GHUGE finds the transformative power of the paper plate reflects the transformative power of a life in any given space. Ghuge’s work invites the viewer to examine the physical space as well as the psychological space with a new attitude and new consideration. The physical transformation of the gallery space and the viewer interaction with the installation is a conversation about value of each life, its influence, hope and growth within a community.

CHARNO GALLERY – MEGAN MOSHOLDER emphasizes obscured elements within recognizable objects and correlate the symbolic with lived experience. Each composition is comprised of lines expanding and contracting in situ to encourage the appreciation of specific spaces for what they are while also examining their hidden meanings. The completed piece is a multi-sensory experience intended to engulf the visual senses and reawaken the simple intrigue of looking.

UNDERGROUND GALLERY – RICK WRIGHT challenges himself with color relationships, and mark-making to build, define, redefine, and refine each painting without losing a sense of liveliness and energy. Wright seeks a balance between the raw nature of a gestural five minute sketch and the sophistication one expects of a resolved painting. The strength and grace of these feminine forms in motion both challenge and compliment the direction of his work.

UNDERGROUND GALLERY – NY WETMORE finds that each of us is the sum of our parts, no one piece should be taken individually. We are a mosaic of our past, our present and our future. Fiber processes lend themselves to the consideration of each tiny piece, each tiny stitch, each tiny stroke, each button and what they can mean to the whole. Aristotle described so passionately that the whole of our parts is much greater than the individual sum. Together we are more. Wetmore’s pieces are meant to inspire one to think of this idea and to encourage joy in remembering those pieces of ourselves whether success or failure that brings us to where we are today.
