"Introduction to Portrait Drawing", artist-led class with Alice Broughton.

A beginning portrait class to better understand the 3-dimensional human head and its varying positions and features.  Often, it’s the subtle, nuanced aspects of a portrait that are key to making great work.  Those details can make a big difference, if you know what to look for, and can interpret them properly.  We will use one color–black–in many values (creating chiaroscuro).  We will work from a 3-D simulated head model, plus 2-D photos.  The photos will be provided, and students are welcome to bring their own photos, as well.  (Well-lit photos with a strong light source work best.)
