HANNAH DE PRIEST, Lyric Soprano
A native of St. Joseph, Missouri, and a graduate of William Jewell College (Liberty, Mo), Hannah’s career has blossomed to include her Kennedy Center debut, an appearance with Opera Lafayette, her European debut at the Innsbruck Early Music Festival, and appearances with Chicago Opera Theater, Atlanta Baroque Orchestra, Haymarket Opera, and several appearances with Boston Early Music Festival where she was hailed a “breakout artist” (Boston Globe) with “a voice that is theater itself” (Classique News). Hannah has garnered attention at numerous important competitions, winning 2nd Prize at the 2021 International Cesti Competition for Baroque Singing, and as finalist in The Handel Aria Competition (2021), Le Concours Corneille (2019), Audrey Rooney Bach Competition (2020), and the Bethlehem Bach Competition (2021). She is also a laureate of the prestigious Luminarts Cultural Foundation’s competition’s Encouragement Award (2022). Hannah’s connection to KC Baroque dates back to our earliest days as Ensemble-in-Residence for the Jewell Early Music Summer Festival when Hannah, as a student at Jewell, participated in the festival which sparked a love of early music. She went on to complete a Master’s degree in Historical Performance Practice from Case Western University, and a Master of Music in voice performance with a specialization in early music from McGill University (Montreal).
