Making Movies To Perform at The Truman Dec. 18

It has been two years since the infused sound of afro latin rhythms and psychedelic rock’n’roll rang from the stage of the Truman in Kansas City, MO from Latin Grammy-nominated band Making Movies. Described by Rolling Stone as an “eclectic blend of rumbero percussion, delicate organs and grungy fuzz rock,” the band is set to return home on December 18, 2021.   As part of their yearly tradition to perform a classic album at the Truman, the band will take on Kid A by Radiohead—an album that front-man Enrique Chi describes as “timely to explore 20 years later,” in the digital age.  This show will be a full circle moment for the band, as this will be the last performance of the year before Making Movies begins its international touring in 2022.  The band has been invited to the largest annual music festival in Mexico City, Vive Latino alongside headliners the Pixies and Black Puma, unquestionably propelling them to new heights.    The Latinx rock ’n ’rollers are excited to be back on stage at the Truman and view this show as a “challenge” but not in the typical sense. “We were looking through our record collection to figure out what album we wear well,” Enrique Chi said. “Then we got a call from 90.9 The Bridge asking us to cover a Radiohead song as part of their 20th anniversary, and that got our wheels spinning.”  Kid A diverged from Radiohead’s alternative-rock and art-rock sound, making room for more experimental influences, such as jazz, electronic, and ambient music. Tickets for this special event on December 18, 2021 are on sale now. General admission tickets are $29 and will include a free download of Making Movies Radiohead cover “I Might Be Wrong.”  Proof of vaccination or proof of negative COVID test within 72 hours is required. Doors will open at 7 p.m. and the show will begin at 8 p.m.
