Musica Sacra Commemorates Anniversary of Protestant Reformation
Rockhurst’s Musica Sacra Chorus and Orchestra performs to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation.
The concert will feature works by Johann Sebastian Bach and George Frideric Handel. Four of Kansas City’s premier vocal soloists— Grammy-winning soprano Sarah Tanehill Anderson, mezzo-soprano Kelly L. Birch, tenor David Adams and baritone Raymond Feener—will join the Musica Sacra Chorus and Orchestra in a performance of Bach’s Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott (A Mighty Fortress Is Our God). Bach based his work on the chorale attributed to Martin Luther.
Tickets may be purchased starting Aug. 15 through the Central Ticket Office at 816-235-6222 or at the performance for $22 for adults, or $12 for students and senior citizens. Free parking is available in the garage at 52nd Street and Troost Avenue and in all campus lots accessed through the university’s entrance at 54th Street and Troost Avenue. See rockhurst.edu/map.
