Do you have sewing projects that are halfway finished? Do you have a pile of garments you’ve been meaning to mend or alter?
Join us for an open studio concept where students can bring their own projects, use our state-of-the-art sewing machines, and receive instruction where needed regarding pattern drafting, garment construction, alterations, and tailoring.
Participants will have access to our sewing and production studio including:
- Programmable/automatic Brother industrial straight-stitch sewing machines,
- Traditional/non-automatic JUKI industrial straight-stitch sewing machines,
- Janome School Mate 7330 and HD-3000 straight-stitch home sewing machines,
- JUKI industrial serger,
- Babylock and Jamone home sergers,
- Coverstitch and blindstitch sewing machines,
- Two 12’ long cutting tables,
- Ironing station featuring professional grade iron and ironing board with build in steamer,
- Dress forms; male size 38 and female size 8, and
- Two fitting rooms featuring full-length mirrors, hanging hooks, stool, and ample space for client fittings.
Students must provide their own sewing kit and fabric for sewing projects.
While all skill levels are welcome, the sewing machines you may use are subject to safety training and instructor approval. Students will be able to demonstrate their knowledge at the start of class.
This class is being taught by Rightfully Sewn Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Pamela Lucas. She is a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City and has over 20 years of teaching experience.
