Rockhurst University Theater: Arabian Nights

Weaving ancient tales into a rich and poetic testament to the transformational power of storytelling, Arabian Nights tells the story of King Shahryar, who discovers that his wife has been unfaithful and has her executed. Shahryar’s distrust with women drives him to a gruesome plan — to marry a different virgin each day and have each killed the next night. This works until he meets Scheherezade, who on their wedding night weaves an enchanting tale to entertain the king. However, she does not reveal the story’s ending, leaving him with a cliffhanger until the next day. Immediately, she begins another tale, delaying her murder for 1,001 nights. All performances will take place in Mabee Theatre, located inside Sedgwick Hall on the Rockhurst University campus. Tickets are sold at the door and cost $10 for adults, $5 for students and senior citizens. Parking is free in all campus lots accessed at 54^th Street and Troost Avenue.
