Spring Kimjang Day – Making and Sharing Kimchi

Join Charlotte Street 2023 fellows Sean Nash and SunYoung Park for a hands-on fermentation workshop. The workshop is inspired by the Korean tradition of Kimjang, which involves a communal gathering for kimchi-making and sharing. The artists will demonstrate the art of kimchi fermentation with a focus on community building. Using local, fresh, seasonal ingredients, they will create various types of kimchi and set the fermentation process in motion using a vessel they made collaboratively. Programs are open to all but supplies are limited, participation in the hands-on component is on a first-come first-served basis.

Annually, Charlotte Street honors three exceptional Kansas City-based visual artists with unrestricted cash awards and a professionally curated exhibition at esteemed non-profit art institutions.
