The Overland Park Orchestra hopes that you will join us for our Park Promenades concert on June 11th at 3PM at Thompson Park in Downtown Overland Park, 8045 Santa Fe Dr. This event is our final concert of one of our most exciting seasons so far, which will feature highlights of the season leading up until this point. So, if you’ve made it to every concert so far and want to relive the magic, or if you’ve missed a few concerts and want to catch up on what you missed, the event will be a delight for all!
The concert will feature patriotic, pops, and symphonic favorites all rolled into a wonderful afternoon at a beautiful park in the heart of Overland Park. The Star-Spangled Banner and America the Beautiful are pieces that reflect on the beauty and triumph of our great nation. Holst’s Jupiter and Sibelius’ Finlandia both exhibit exuberance and vitality throughout and evoke the human spirit thoroughly. Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake Suite and Bizet’s Carmen Suite both feature lush melodies that give a taste of what can be found in the mystical ballet and the tragic opera alike. The 4th movement of Dvorak’s New World Symphony is both uplifting and triumphant, which touches listeners’ souls deeply. John William’s music from Star Wars conjures emotions of impending doom and conquering evil, perfectly composed for the epic films. This concert will encapsulate the power and emotion of the many different types of classical music that the orchestra is able present throughout its season. This is a free performance, that you won’t want to miss. We hope you’ll join us for an afternoon to remember! Please share this opportunity with your friends.
