VIRTUAL - Bowling for Rhinos: 33rd Annual Fundraiser

This August marks the 33rd anniversary for the Greater Kansas City American Association of Zoo Keepers’ (GKC AAZK) nationally recognized bowl-a-thon: Bowling for Rhinos. Bowling for Rhinos (BFR) was originated in 1987 by a group of Kansas City zoo keepers that were concerned about the plight of rhinos in Africa due to poaching. Though Rhinos have lived on Earth for over 50 million years, they may not survive the next 50 without our support.
The GKC AAZK invite YOU to join us to bowl, have fun, and raise much-needed funds for the conservation of endangered rhinos and the ecosystems they inhabit.
#COVID got you throwing gutter balls? Don’t de-spare! Bowling for Rhinos 2020 is just around the corner! Not comfortable coming to the alley? No problem! You can social distance and support conservation throwing strikes from the comfort of your own home.
You can participate in virtual bowling for $20, or $25 to join us at the bowling alley! Bowlers can register online until 5:00, August 9; however, early bird registration ends on July 26th. Don’t miss out on your free Sudan, the last male northern white rhinos “Hindsight is 2020” memorial t-shirt!
Participants are encouraged to ‘bowl’ during the event time of 6:00-9:00. We would like participants to post BFR event activities to our FB page.
You can virtually bowl in 3 different categories via Event Brite: 1. Virtual bowling via computer, tablet or phone app2. Virtual bowling via home gaming system such as: Wii, Nintendo Switch, Microsoft – Xbox, Sony – PlayStation, SEGA – Genesis etc.3. Purchase or borrow an outdoor game set and have some fun!
Registering for the event qualifies participants the opportunity to win a $25 virtual gift card! Play 3 games and have someone either help keep score and take photos and/or screen shots and send us your total for the 3 games.
