Westwood Ensemble Orchestra Concert

Get ready for an afternoon of musical mirth and rhythmic revelry as Westwood Ensemble opens our WE Sing and Dance series with a German Jaunt.  We set the tone with Mozart’s overture to the comic opera The Impresario, which pokes good-natured fun at the perceived vanity and egotism of opera divas.  The overture’s playful melodies and witty musical banter capture the moments when drama and comedy converge on the musical stage.  Then on to Beethoven’s Symphony No. 8, often called his “Little Symphony in F,” a joyful work filled with surprises and humorous twists.  Listen closely during the second movement and you will hear Beethoven’s playful imitation of a metronome, and even a “musical sneeze.”  Please join us on this musical jaunt!
