Like some upright cavemen and most upstanding four-year-olds, I make pictures to make sense of things, to tell stories, and because it’s more fun than hunting, gathering, or time outs. I scavenge and re-scramble stuff. Work grows out of bricolage & foragery, mistakes, uncertainty, distraction, even divine intervention when available – and through serious work & play. Humor is a survival strategy, an outlet for anxieties, irritations, and wonder. For practical reasons – time, space, money – my work is intimate in scale.
