Alexej Savreux (b.1989, Burlington, VT, lives and works in Kansas City, Missouri) is a multimedia artist, poet, autodidact, editorialist, satirist, and critic, holds a BA in Communications from Ottawa University, cum laude, and has undertaken near two-decade long apprenticeships in linguistics, sociology, social theory, videography, journalism, desktop publishing, and theatre. Savreux is a longtime affiliate of the NEA-Kansas City, Wilshire Press, Wingless Dreamer Publishing House in Australia, and the UK, among others. He has been in residence at the Unlucky Rabbit Art Studio (Kansas City, MO) the division of Artificial Intelligence at Scale Laboratories (San Francisco, CA), and the Institute For Cultural Entrepreneurship at the State University of New York at Oneonta (Oneonta, NY). His work across media incorporates video art, sound art, illustration, trash art/painting, writing, photography, and satire to explore what he theorizes as a non-beginning nor non-ending to the human mind. In his work, Savreux often utilizes arcane and esoteric intellectual references drawn from psychoanalysis, psychiatry, social theory, analytic philosophy, mathematics, language, and qualitative sociology to thread a needle between the intellectually probing and the hysterically funny. Savreux is currently affiliated as a protege/student, designer, and sound engineer at the Conservatory, Theatre Department at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
