POLLY ALICE merges oil painting and soft sculpture with imperfect stitching to talk about the precarious weathering of time and relationships and the beauty of mending. Adjunct writing professor, curator, speaker, and creative consultant, she is also the founder and managing editor of Flying Ketchup Press. She credits much of her work to her studies of the subconscious creative process that won her the 2014 Ernest Hartmann Award for research from the International Association for the Study of Dreams in Berkeley, CA. Throughout her B.A. in Studio Art from Messiah College, and her M.F.A. in Writing from Hamline University in St. Paul, she continues to focus on poetry and short fiction. Her art has been published in both U.S. and international newspapers and journals, most recently Rattle Magazine. A rising poet, she has published three full collections of poetry, the most recent, “Puss ’N Boötes: Dark Poems,” a collection of poetry based on myth and folk tales. She says her favorite thing is to tell stories– other people’s, her own– maybe yours. Find her at www.thatpollygirl.com
